| it's the 6th chinese new year i am spending away from home(Singapore).
This is one of the most painful days to have to get through every year.
I thought it would easier as I reside in the US for longer, but nah, I'm missing home, i'm missing the festiveness of this season.
I don't think people understand. It's hard to expect someone to understand.
It's like not having Thanksgiving, not able to see your relatives, cant eat the good food, cant enjoy friends and family whom you dont see often at all (or for me not at all).
It was so different back at home.
We shop for new clothes.
We buy all the special snacks and goodies. We go and shop in Chinatown and join the crowd as we all prepare for the New yr!
We clean up the house and decorate the house.
We have a delicious reunion dinner on Chinese New Year's eve.
We wake up early on Chinese new yr. wear our new clothes and go visit the grandparents. then we visit our relatives.
Everyone's house is clean and pretty and they all have tasty snacks in red containers. Everything is red during CNY cus it brings good luck!
Chinese new yr songs play all day long on the radio in the car, on the TV. (it's one thing i really miss)
We have the second day of CNY off too. it's a public holiday. my family usually go to another relative's house for lunch and we play poker till it's dinner.
Oh. Majong was always part of CNY too!
All around singapore, people are celebrating with lion dances, decorations, cny songs.
I used to visit my friends' house too. extra red packets. wahaha. We play poker and majong too.
Chinese new yr used to be the best holiday ever.
Now in the US.
I have 3 exams during the week of CNY.
i dont buy new clothes anymore, it's way too cold to wanna dress up.
I woke up early this morning to study, and am still studying on CNY's eve.
I am having my first exam on the da nian chu 3. =(
We dont get days off from school or work for chinese new yr. =(
I used to get at least 2 days off for the first 18 yrs of my life!
There is no relatives to visit, i dont get all my favorite food. I dont get to see my cousins. I dont get to play poker and black jack.
I miss my uncle and aunty who used to take care of me when i was younger. i miss my aunt's cooking, I miss seeing my cousins and their kids.
I get to study and study my brain away.
There is no cny songs to cheer me up. =(
BUT I WILL MAKE DO!
just needed somewhere to express how much i miss CHinese New yr in Singapore on CNY's eve.
I think i need to just keep telling myself that after i graduate, i will go back to spore during CNY's every yr as my vacation.
I remember telling myself that when i was in undergrad. wahaha. AND I thought i was going to be able to go back this yr's (2010) CNY, but who knew i am in grad school now and got to wait again!!! =(
I calculated. I will go back for CNY in 2014!

| So that previous post was from 2 yrs back.
What's new since then? Too much. It's crazy thinking back and noticing all the growing up I did over the years.
2009 was a great year. I cannot ask for more. =)
I am still working at ScienceFirst, but instead of an intern, I became a full time employee 3 shorts mths after joining the company.
After working for 8 mths, I bought my first car! a 2009 Mazda 3 Hatchback. It's metropolitan grey and I love my ride. =)
Driving 45mins-1 hour to work is much less painful with this little darling. His name is Marvin by the way. Marvin the Mazda 3! haha
Beginning of 2009, I also took scuba diving lessons. I took my open water exam in St. Lucia which my family visited for our family vacation.
I love Scuba Diving, It's a whole other world underneath the blue sea. It's beautiful and peaceful, stress-free and lovely! I don't think I can express the type of enjoyment I got from scuba-diving. It was AWESOME!
Sadly, that was the first and last time I've been diving. I cannot wait till I get to go again! I just wish NJ has diving spots for me to dive locally. =(
Summer of 2009, I was given a chance to go to Beijing for a meeting for work. It was a great experience! I got to visit the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City and eat perking duck. =) The best part of the summer was SINGAPORE! After the Beijing meeting, I flew to Singapore for a week before returning to the US. Home ohh my home! How I miss u!!
Even though a week was really short, it was really better than nothing. I enjoyed every single day I was back and cannot wait to go back soon!! Let's not even get me started on my trip. I can go on forever. Friends and Relative, I miss u guys mucho!!
Another new news for 2009. I got into UMDNJ Physician Assistant Program! =)
It's the only PA school I applied to at the beginning of the 2009. The reason why? cus it's about 15 mins away from home and a pretty good PA school, So what if I don't get in? I will apply again the next yr. I didn't want to move out of home again, I wanted to stay close to home, close to Jay and yes also because I cannot afford to move to anywhere else for school. haha. Anyway, I got accepted into the program 2 weeks after I got Marvin (my new car). And because I really want to get my master's in PA and at the same time have to pay mthly payments on the car, I am currently in PA school as a part time student and also working part time at ScienceFirst. =)
Life can be exhausting and busy, stressful and repetitive, but I know I striving toward God's calling for me, to serve His people who are in need for medically attention. My pick to be a Physician Assistant is a LONG story. Let's save that for another day.
I am very thankful for all that God has done in my life in 2009.
Ohh more good stuff from 2009.
- My eldest sis-in-law is pregnant!!! Bro and sis-in-law are expecting a little boy in June 2010. YAY.. Congrats!
- My second brother and Irene are married! They had their ROM this past nov!! Congrats!
- Jay's sister had a little boy last june! Little Noah added a lot of joy to all our lives. =) Congrats Jen and Will!
- Enoch and Shirley got married! YAY. Congrats!!

POST written in Aug 2008, but was never submitted. SO here it is!
"It has been a while since I last logged on to update my blog.
Almost a year! Wow..
When I started using blogspot/xanga (back in 2003), I totally remember telling myself “this is so great, I can update my friends with all my ongoing wherever I am.”
That was also why my blog is called “my life no matter where”
I also remember asking myself “Will I still be blogging when I am an adult? When I am older?”
I guess I got my answer now “Not really. =( “
But I do miss it though, letting pple know how Emo I am. Hahaha
It’s been a long journey, my friends. I’ve been in the state for almost 5 years already. And I’ve only been back to spore once. =(
SO here is my update.
I graduated uni this past may. I am working as a research associate intern at a company called ScienceFirst. I’ve been here for 3 months and going on my 4th now. I am good! Job is great. However, It just hit me that I am an adult now. “Grown Up” as many call it.
Looking back and taking a quick look down memory lane..

1 yr at SAJC
2 yrs at MCC
2 yrs at USP
I’M DONE with school.
I enjoyed it while it lasted.
I miss it much!
I listen to 933 on the internet when I am at work. GOSH. That station brings me back to secondary school days.
Wish I can be young all over again… I will give up anything to be able to be young again. Esp in secondary and JC time. I would love so much to go through that phase again. I promise I won’t be a bad student anymore. I will not talk during class, play pranks, or even eat candy in class anymore. I will be a good student leader, I will jump for the ball during netball games. I wont be lazy anymore. I will be good.. I promise!!! Just let me live my teenage days all over again! I actually miss getting into trouble. Haha.

| OMG.... i didnt have a good week at all...
I've been parking my car at the school parking lot cus everyone said it is fine and that USP really cant do anything to our car!!
On my way to the gym on weds, i decided to check the car out!!
I GOT A YELLOW TICKET ON MY WINDSHIELD AND MY WHEEL GOT BOOTED!!!!
GOSH!!!!! i got so scared and have no idea what to do...
went to the security and asked them about it.. My car is the first car they booted and everyone knows which car it is...they didnt even need to check their record..
ANyway... i went to dispute it thursday morning.. cried a little.. showed them that i am sorry and what not.
Nope.. they were not that nice!!! i still got fined!!! (PLS DUN TELL my DAd about this, i will be killed)
I agreed to pay the fine and told them to put it to my next sem's tuition. They removed the boot and i am free to go..
SO yah.. didnt have a good 2 days already...
Today (friday), after having 2 bad nites and am really tired cus of exams.. I decided to sleep in today and skip my A&P class at 10am...
BUT.. i got 3 texts, 2 calls from my friends at the class at 10.01am, telling me that "Security is looking for you.. GO the the Security NOW!!! "
I jumped out of bed... called security and they got me to call the student's account, only to find that "U can't put the fines on your next semester's tuition, u have to pay them soon"
Fine.. i told the lady, i will be at her office at 1pm... EVERYTHING settled!
BUT that wasn't all.. I got another call at 11am... saying "Erm.. wendy... security is looking for u again!!!"
another security looking for me saying that i need to pay the fine, not knowing that i agreed with the student account lady about paying her at 1pm...
OMG,,,
the only A&P i skipped alll semester!!! security came looking for me TWICE!!!
HATE USP SECURITY!!!! wish i can slap them all and kick their nuts!!!
